How the math works
Players per round
1 court × 4 players = 4 on court each round, so 4 sit out. Sit-outs rotate so nobody sits twice before everyone has sat once.
Even stops
Everyone has played the same number of games every 2 rounds (1 games each). Stopping on an even stop keeps the standings fair.
Time estimate
Rally scoring to 11 takes about 12 minutes plus 2 minutes to rotate. 2 rounds ≈ 28 min; 8 rounds ≈ 1h 52m. Side-out scoring adds about 30%.
